Mailto: not working Windows 8

So I’ve got a stumper to see if anyone has a solution for.

Win8 and IE10 does not see

<a href="mailto:[email protected]">[email protected]</a>

or doesn’t interpret that correctly from what I can tell. For Win7 + IE10, it works fine but not so much for Win8.
Does anyone have a fix or hack for this? Should just reproduce the typical default behavior we know and love.

Did you set up a default email client on the Windows 8 machine? Cause that’s basically what a “mailto:” link does; execute the default mail program and compose a new message.

I have Windows 8 and I’ve never come across a problem where mailto: links don’t work.

Interesting. On Win7, didn’t it use to prompt you on which email client you wanted to use to open up the email composition in?
