Language Translation Tools

  • # February 29, 2012 at 5:47 pm

    Hi all,

I am developing a site that needs to have the option of changing the language. What would you recommend is the best tool to use? The only one I am aware of is the Google Translator Tool but this requires the site to have Google’s own branding on the translator dropdown. Are there any other ways of doing this?

    Thanks,

    Ross

If you’re building the site in WordPress, then this is quite the perfect plugin for that: http://wpml.org/

If it’s not WordPress, use the Google Translator Tool anyway. Yes, there’s some branding but that’s a small price to pay for an otherwise free tool.

You don’t have to use the branded translator tool, but it’s best if you do
check out the code playground http://code.google.com/apis/ajax/playground/#transliterate_arabic
With the branding their people will be less offended by an incorrect translation
For instance, Portuguese can offend people who speak Brazilian Portuguese
