jsScript/jQuery Make footer go down the page if required

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if it is possible to do something like this, or something similar…

What i am trying to achieve is to have a footer placed in one position by default and perhaps using javascript or jquery I want to make it move down if the page’s main content goes below the original location of the footer.

I am not very good at explaining so here’s an image.
