How to prevent survey fraud?

  • # July 20, 2013 at 8:36 am

    Hi,

I intend to hire someone to distribute a survey page. One problem is, a programmer could easily write a simple one line program to automatically visit my survey page,
    for instance,

    http://kwiksurveys.com/app/rendersurvey.asp?sid=qjlxr2cy0mz9kri186151&refer=contractorXYZ

by simply looping the URL many times. So, I wonder if you have any idea on preventing such fraud.

    Thanks.

You can restrict entries by accepting only one per IP address. Maybe Surveymonkey has this implemented, or other ways.

But take a step back and think — will people really want to enter a survey many times? If it’s a contest where you can win a car, I can see why someone wants to do that, but a survey…?

+1. Like Senff said, for a contest, this is something to worry about for sure, but in this case, you probably have no reason to worry about it.

” for a contest,”, but this is not a contest. All right, thanks for your input tho.
