Hi I know how to make wordpress pages through the admin panel, but I am needing a bit more flexibility than the standard WYSIWYG editor. Can anyone tell me how to create a standalone page that integrates with the admin panel but is uploaded as a separate file using FTP to the web server.
Or something similar.
You can create a new template. Just make sure to have the following in the top of it:
Then when you create the page in the WordPress backend make sure to select your newly created template from the dropdown.
Ok thanks.
Where do I put the template file?
In which folder does it go?
In the theme folder. Then “Add new page” and your templates will load under “page attributes – templates”.
Will it include the header and footer?
When you create your new template, it’ll need to be just like page.php, so you’ll need to include the header, footer, sidebar, etc.
Ok thanks.
