How to apply a side-border/side-shadow to a column in a grid like structure ?

The project is responsive, so tables are out of the question(I know how to do this in tables).

Update:

I think I’m quite near to the solution (Using display:table-cell). Will post my results in a while.

in the reference they have applied box-shadow with **inset**….

you too can follow the same.. :)
