    The SEO individual i’ve been working with is telling me that javascript between script tags is bad for SEO. All JS should be in an external file with obvious exceptions.

    That is incorrect. The only way JavaScript affects your SEO is if you are preventing default URL within `a` tag and not providing complete URL so that indexing can happen.

    Embedding JavaScript does nothing to SEO, the kind of things this JavaScript preforms could potentially affect SEO.
