    Hello Friends,

does anyone know how to create ebooks in epub and kindle format.
I actually went through a tutorial on http://bbebooksthailand.com/, but when I created mine, it refused to open in ADE. I validated it at IPDF validator and I got some errors and warnings. But the errors and warning are confusing. The validator said I didnt declare my book chapters in the content.opf file, but I did declare them. I dont know whether it’s from zipping. But i used zip.exe to run a command and zipped the file to epub format, but ADE is not opening it, saying error.

I tried contacting bbebooksthailand.com for assistance, but they said i will have to pay for consultation.

Can anyone help me with any idea on how to successfully create, zip and open ebook in epub?

    Thank u pls.

I use Calibre to create e-books. It’s free and supports a wide variety of formats which are listed in their user manual.

    Hi,

Create the epub using a text editor or free editor (calibre). Then the chapters are declared in content content.opf BUT you need to also set up the toc.ncx to include the chapters or else it either won’t work or if the playorder is incorrect the book will behave odd e.g. missing chapters, skips chapters etc.

Once the epub is done, use http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html?ie=UTF8&docId=1000765261 to make the kindle version.

I normally copy the final epub and adapt some css to suit the kindle quirks

The #eprdctn folks are very helpful and http://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/Main_Page

    Good luck!

I use a program called Sigil. It is a reasonably decent text editor that understands the epub format and can handle the epub document all at once. The version I use runs on linux but I think there is a windows version. Try http://code.google.com/p/sigil/.

This doesn’t help with kindle I am afraid as it doesn’t support epub (at least the original ones don’t). But calibre will convert them into mobi.

well, I’m using such one easy-to-use XFlip ebook publishing software to convert PDF/PPT/Word/Excel/Image files to flash-based ebooks and view them on any computers, tablets, or mobile devices like e-Readers, iOS and Android devices.

Hi CodeGraphics, luckily, there’re online or offline tools available on some websites like Issue, Codex and etc. you could try them as you like, good luck!
