    It is rather ugly in markup and design.
    I think I rather forget about it, or use Images along with crop.

    @Martin_Muzatko You might be better off creating it in Illustrator and grabbing the SVG code.

    I thought it was like ‘canvas’ in that it is an element that gets drawn on.

    For instance, you can’t do:


    Lorem

    and expect it to just contain/flow the text. (AFAIK)

    An SVG element is still a rectangle that has been drawn on.

    I would suggest using pure CSS with CSS3 and :before and :after
