    I’m working with a site hosted by yahoo web hosting, and it’s a mess.

    I’m using WordPress, the theme I created works great on my local pc, and my mediatemple account.

    However, when I move to Yahoo server, everything goes wrong.

    * CSS z-index isn’t working
    * cannot navigate, results in page errors
    * there is a difference between using http://domain.com and http://www.domain.com
    * site results are not reflective of actual code.

    It’s like I’m in a bad dream, lol.

    It seems that Yahoo web hosting is not flexible, and they want you to use their software to dev a site.

    just looking to see if anyone else has experienced working with Yahoo

    I used Yahoo Web Hosting ONCE. I too was trying to use a custom theme in WordPress and discovered that because of their limitations with WordPress, it simply could not be done.

    Now what I did notice was that Yahoo offers WordPress that they have integrated with your hosting plan. That’s the one that’s a little limited. However, if you can manage to login via FTP, you can upload and install WordPress manually. I can’t remember if I tried it or not since I got a new host after realizing I was limited with Yahoo. But maybe you can try and see if that works.

    There is no a difference between using http://domain.com and http://www.domain.com

    glad to see, I’m not the only one then.

    I did use wordpress buy my own install and their install, neither works right.

    maybe I’ll do away with wordpress since, it’s only a two-three page site, with no blog.

    you can use yahoo hosting BUT no htaccess file which means no custom permalinks. I have a site up on there right now and it is just horrible hosting. They do have good tech support though. I would recommend you use something else. The integrated wordpress is horrible also.

    personally I use MT, the best I’ve ever had. However the person needing help is on Yahoo.

    I was able to get it working, but I had to jump through some SERIOUS hoops. Definitely would not recommend yahoo for anyone.

    So was able to get them what they wanted, but there is almost NO flexibility. the next yahoo job I get will be quoted 200% over the norm, and maybe I’ll escape the headache.. lol
