Personally, I would keep thet square corners, as it is.
if your going for a gradiated background, nothing strong, maybe a lighter colour behind the banner, and a bit stronger behind the main content and maybe make the content area slightly opaque with more white emphasis
I would have a white footer, with a bit of a blue line seperating content and footer
but thats just me, to see it, then I would decide if it is ok or not
edit: i think your main image of bluecone and the lkink are not lined up
I was aiming for a really simle and clean design.
I was thinking about rounded corners and possibly a gradient or textured background but im not sure?
can you take a look and give my your thoughts on it.
