WEB 3.0

  • Hello friends,

Can any one tell me what is exact meaning of web 3.0 .
  • To be quite honest, from reading through a few articles, there seems to be no real definition at this point. It's all opinionated.
  • It's a rubbish buzzword that means nothing. The less we use it the more chance it has of disappearing
  • IMO I believe web 2.0 to be a buzzword too
  • i dont know but web 4.0 is gonna be even more awesomer than that!

  • Well, the term web 2.0 referred to the obsession of having glossy buttons and having things glossy and shiny in general on a website, and I think wen 3.0 is this new minimal thing that G-Plus and Windows 8 are promoting among other places where there's more solid colors and empty space.
  • First time read at Web 3.0 Maybe Search in GOOGLE is best option for YOU!
  • @Odde_E That's not what Web 2.0 means, instead, I think you're referring to Elliot's infamous presentation "Destroy the Web 2.0 look". Essentially he was referring to the design trends of that era.

I see these terms more than just a buzzword. I think it has more of a meaning than what Elliot's presentation had focused on, which was design based.
  • Web 2.0 was meant to signify the change towards user interactivity. It was the ability for visitors to connect and interact with the site, not only just visiting it. It was a buzzword created to neatly box an evolutionary stage of user interactivity with user accounts, user generated content and opinions that would directly effect the sites content. It's called Social Media now.

Basically it was a great way for new media sales teams to sell the next generation of websites to clients :D

Web 3.0 is a very much tongue in cheek hark back to 2.0, and looking into the future at what the next leap will be - and like everyone said it means nothing.
  • I think Web 3.0 will be utilizing WebGL for websites.

It'll be like flash, only more intense!

Thanks for letting me know, I wasn't sure, that's just what I've interpreted it as because that's only when I heard it referenced.
