this is my first post here. only just discovered this site the other day, but the tutorials are at the perfect level for me.
anyway, i built this site a while back before I really knew how to design. now that I have a couple of websites under my belt, I thought I'd go back and redesign my first site.
However, I'm not sure if its much of an improvement! So any feedback will be greatly appreciated!

looks good to me however I would ditch those image based links on the side bar it can be done with text. If you can you might as well reduce the page weight. I find the rollovers have a tendency to fail on a slow connection. Always use real text for links and add background-image with css if you wish.
