Been working on a re-design for a local high end Day Spa & Salon recently. Been having lots of fun trying new tactics, especially the sprites navigation w/animated drop down.
The site is far from finished (lots of little inconsistencies that need fixing), that homepage picture won't stay and the Gift Cert., Policies and Contact pages are not complete yet, but I wanted to see what you guys think so far, just in case some major changes are needed...I'd rather know now than after launch!
The only picky thing I can come up with is the three images in the header. I don't get why they are there. They add a lot of "weight" to the header and attract attention... but don't direct eyeballs to anything. It's just a dead end. If you're going to have such an attention grabber, I'd have an newsletter sign up form or something you want visitors to click on... You could make them links to "main sections" on the website that you want visitors to see.
But overall: http://www.websitesinaflash.com/images/thumbsup.gif
Thanks Ashton, that's great feedback. I was wondering if they should link or not. Since I already have some jQuery running, I decided to make them links along with a cool image fade. Still unsure if I will keep those particular pics/categories, but it's a start. Thanks for the suggestion!
The rest of the site is now complete as well, but still some minor tweaking and picture re-arrangement going on.
On initial load of the site, the 3 images in the header appear fine. When I hover over them, I get the text fade in, but when I hover off of them, the whole image gets a nasty black border around it. If I hover back on, it goes away, and so on and so forth. I am running Firefox version 3.0.10.
**EDIT** Ahhh sorry, didn't realize I was using IE Tab to view your site. That would explain the border around the images (or lack of PNG support rather).
On the "Salon Services" page, the text runs past the footer border, so there is some overlapping going on there.
That's all I have time to look at right now. Hope it helps. Good job by the way.
Thanks, Josh. Hopefully I got all the IE bugs worked out of this one. I even supported IE6 on this site, which was a hell of a challenge with all these PNG's.
