  • Alright,
I am in need of thoughts.

I created this website months ago http://www.ryancoker.com.
The code is embarrassing simply because it was my first attempt at building a site via all css.

I wanted to break away from your standard navigation.

what I want to know is this....
•Do you think this navigation system works, or does it get a little annoying?
    • Since I used absolute values to place the navigation and logo there is no real easy way (that i know of) to center the picture while keep the bg image fixed. Do you think that this looks ok on wide screen monitors?
    • any other thoughts comments... do you think this design works?

I have found that designing for your self is one of the hardest things as a designer. I feel 20times more critical on this design than any design for a client.
  • Your design is very orgininal, but I am sorry to say that I don't like the way pages open. In one or other way it just don't feel natural. I find it hard to describe, maybe some other people got this same feeling? I think a site like this where you present you work to potential customers, the navigation should be easy and natural...
  • yeah thats what I was fearing... I am thinking that I am going to go back to the drawing board.

any thoughts on this design? http://www.ryancoker.com/v2/V2design1.jpg
  • It's also original. Maybe add a little more color? It's now - I don't want to offend you, just say how it comes over to me! - a little old-fashion maybe? Try to make is a little moderner I think, some fresh colors somewhere? This is just my thought, maybe you have choosen for those colors with a reason?
  • The navigation needs to give more feedback. A hover-effect would've been nice. Also, why not put the same links (about - work - contact) on top of all pages, so for easier navigation?

The index-page carries too much of a resemblance to a general splash-page, which gives me - and could give other visitors - negative associations.
  • Perhaps that big background image could auto-resize to fit the browser window?
