this is my first CSS site after learning from the video tutorials by the great Mr. Chris Coyier. I only watched the mark-up tutorials so forgive me if the site seems premature or unprofessional. and please give me your opinions and critiques on how I can make my site better.

I don't think the title is right, you should make it less bold, tone down the colour, and try to make it fit with the colours of the rest of the page.
Also the main content box could do with something extra - maybe a drop shadow?
Apart from that, it is a nice design - keep it up!
