After being a mailman for 7 1/2 years for the miserable government, I think I know what I want to be when I grow up: THE SAME AS YOU!! I now have job in web support and know html and some CSS, but I think I want to start to learn how to be a front-end developer! Any advice on where to go or recommended sites or literature?
I really could use some help and this site seems to be the place to go!!
http://codecademy.com is a great place to start. The fact that it is interactive means that it really engages you. Don't take everything on there as fact though; some of the lessons, in teaching the basics, also teach slightly bad habits.
Treehouse.com is pretty good - costs money but worth it. They have an awesome tutorials library for front end stuff. I signed up a few months back for backend but ended up doing all the HTML/CSS stuff just as a refresher and it was super fun.

Thank you so much!! ;)
