Go ahead, try it out! Pressing Command (mac) or Control (PC) +/- does it in most browsers. Not only is the image able to enlarge, it maintains a nice resolution while it does it. The trick is to start with a large image and then force it's size down by applying a unique class and setting it's width in an "em" value. Em is what allows it to expand with the text.
